Director General Literacy and Non-Formal Education Dr. Khurram Shehzad has said that the defence and development of Pakistan is possible through education.
He said this while talking to the officers and different delegates during a special meeting held in the Literacy Department on the occasion of Defense Day.
He said that a literate nation can better deal with defense and economic challenges. He said that literate people would not only help in the defense and economic development of the country, but they also can protect the defense, economic, ideological and other borders in a better way than illiterate people.
DG Literacy further said that the Literacy Centers of Literacy Department are preparing students for play their role in defense and economic development through education. He also appreciated that the spirit of patriotism and determination to defend the borders is flourishing among the new generation and especially the students of non-formal schools.
Dr. Khurram Shahzad instructed the officers that defense and development should be the top priorities. In this regard, he also stressed on the need to increase the role of teachers in literacy centers and brainstorming of students as well as the role of officers to increase the literacy rate in the province. He said that Pakistan is determined to achieve the goals of taking literacy to 100% for defense and economic stability.
