According to the World News Agency, an important meeting between UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Makati took place in Abu Dhabi, in which both leaders agreed to restore diplomatic relations.

The UAE and Lebanon also agreed to set up a joint committee that will take steps to open embassies, including obtaining Emirati visas for Lebanese nationals.

On October 10, 2021, the then Lebanese Minister of Information criticized the aggressive role of Saudi Arabia and the UAE in the Yemen war in a TV program. Saudi Arabia severed its diplomatic and trade relations with Lebanon in strong protest against this statement. that the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain have also severed diplomatic and trade relations with Lebanon. In addition, in August of this year, after a week of intense fighting between armed groups in the Palestinian refugee camp, the United Arab Emirates imposed a ban on its citizens in Lebanon. A ban was imposed on travel.

Since October 2022, Lebanon has been without a president and no government, suffering from civil war and government crisis.
