Karachi: Proposal to hire 5,000 private guards in polio campaign

Karachi: Taking a big decision on the increasing incidents of crime and the current situation in Shahr Quaid, the police has proposed to conduct a polio campaign with 5 thousand armed private security guards.

SP Special Security Unit has written a letter to IG Sindh, suggesting that services of private security guards be hired for security during polio campaign, SP has forwarded this letter to concerned authorities for approval. Requested.

The letter states that each security guard will be given Rs 3,000 per day, meaning security guards will be paid Rs 150 crore in a ten-day campaign. Prior to the letter, an important security meeting was held at the SSU headquarters which was chaired by DIG Maqsood Memon. Provides security for the campaign, judiciary, and foreign missions and consulates.

Polio campaigns are conducted several times a year, requiring a large number of police personnel, while the current situation is already overburdened with the local police and security divisions.

The letter stated that the Security Division units are already short of police personnel and are unable to provide large numbers of police personnel during the polio campaign, and that private armed security guards should be hired instead of the police in the campaign.
