Flour Mills Association ends strike after Successful Negotiations

KARACHI: Pakistan Flour Mills Association and Sindh Food Department signed a document agreement for the first time. Flour Mills Association announced to end the strike.

Chairman of Flour Mills Association Sindh South Zone Chaudhry Amir Abdullah said that five lakh sacks of wheat will be given and there will be no restriction on bringing wheat to Karachi, Sindh and Punjab from May 15th. The Sindh Department recognized the grievances of the Flow Mills Association.

The general body meeting of Flour Mills Association continued for three hours at a local hotel in Karachi. The meeting was on one-point agenda. Director of Food Department Imdad Ali and Flour Mills Association held long discussions. Flour Mills Association Chairman Chaudhry Aamir said that five lakh sacks of wheat will be given to the mills of Karachi and on May 12 a notification will be issued to lift the ban on bringing wheat to Karachi and from May 15 the ban on bringing wheat from Sindh and Punjab will be lifted. It will be done and people will not have to buy expensive flour anymore.

The director of the department of Ford Imdad Ali said that there is an atmosphere of distrust when we do not have wheat. Our first target is the purchase of 1.4 million tons of wheat, that is why the ban was imposed. He also revealed that 60 thousand wheat in warehouses. After Monday, the operation against the hoarders will be started after the sacks were spoiled.
