LHR:Defence, Martyrs Day observed to pay tribute to martyrs, Ghazis of 1965 war

The Defence of Pakistan Day is being observed with traditional zeal, enthusiasm and national spirit in the provincial metropolis Lahore.

On the occasion of Pakistan Defence Day, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Corps Commander Lieutenant General Syed Aamer Raza visited Yadgar e Shudha at Cantt in Lahore today.

They laid the floral wreath at Yadgar e Shudha and prayed for the high ranks of martyrs. They said our martyrs are our pride that rendered selfless services to safeguard the motherland.

Caretaker Minister for Information Aamir Mir, Chief Secretary Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman, Inspector General Punjab Zahid Akhtar Zaman and CCPO Lahore Bilal Saddique Kamyana were also present on the occasion.

A solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held a Mazar-i-Iqbal in Lahore today.

Corps Commander Lahore laid a wreath at the shrine, while a special prayer for the stability of Pakistan, martyrs and Allama Iqbal were also offered.Corps Commonder Lahore also recorded his comments in the guest book.

Inspector General Punjab Dr Usman Anwar paid a visit to Yadgar e Shudha at Army Museum in Lahore today.

On this occasion, he expressed solidarity with soldiers of Pakistan Army that rendering selfless secrifrices for the motherland.He said that Punjab police stands should to shoulder with Pakistan Army for protection of lives and property of people.

He also met with heirs of martyrs there.

Meanwhile, the ‘Hilal-e-Istaqlal’ hoisting ceremony was held at Jinnah Hall in Lahore today in which Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Randhava hoisted the national flag.

Addressing the participants in the ceremony, he said that Hilal-e-Istaqlal is the honour for Lahore.

He said that Pakistan armed forces were the guardians of Pakistan’s borders and entire nation was proud of Pakistan armed forces. He paid rich tribute to the Shuhada (martyrs) and Ghazis of 1965 India-Pak war. He said that the sacrifices of martyrs and ghazis would not go in vain.
