PSQCA stops production of another 7 steel mills, seizes stock

Pakistan Standards & Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) on Monday stops manufacturing of another 7 illegal and un-licensed steels mills, seizing huge quantity of deformed steel bars and other products in thr provincial capital.

After receiving instructions from Prime Minister House, Federal Minister for Science & Technology Agha Hassan Baloch and Secretary Ghulam Muhammad Memon directed the Director General PSQCA Zainul Abedin who constituted special teams led by Deputy Directors Asghar Ali and Asad Khan Kirmani for crackdown.The teams raided Lakhuder, Band Road, Mahmood Booti and Korol Ghati, seized huge stock of deformed steel bars and other steel products of 7 mills and also served notices to 2 another illegal and unlicensed steel mills. Director General Zainul Abedin asked all the steel mills to submit their application for license to avoid legal action, adding that PSQCA would provide maximum technical support to the industry following the government’s policy “ease of doing business”. It may be mentioned here that PSQCA has so far taken action against 22 illegal and unlicensed steel mills, seizing huge quantity of stock.
