ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Team is on the brink of becoming World No.1 in the ICC ODI Rankings as they only need two more victories to achieve this feat. The Green Shirts have climbed up the rankings after a 3-0 lead against New Zealand in the ongoing ODI series.

Under the captaincy of Babar Azam, Pakistan has won three out of four series since 2021. Babar Azam took over as skipper in 2019 when the team was placed sixth in the ODI rankings.

Babar Azam, the No.1 ODI batter for the last two years, is on the verge of breaking another record. He only needs 19 more runs to become the fastest batter to score 5000 runs.

Moreover, Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq have a chance to become the first Pakistani pair to combine and have 10 century partnerships in ODI cricket. They leveled Younis Khan and Muhammad Yousaf’s record in the last match.

The Pakistan team is now only two wins away from securing a historic whitewash against New Zealand, which would be their eighth ODI whitewash with a score of 5-0. The last time they achieved this was back in 2003 when New Zealand had visited Pakistan.

They started the series in fifth place but now hold the third position.
