Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif sought a mapping plan for industrial zones.

She stated this while chairing a meeting on the affairs of the Urban Unit in Lahore today.

She said that comprehensive and accurate planning is essential for the Regional Economic Corridor in Punjab.

She said that we will assist small-scale industrialists after obtaining authentic data through industrial mapping.

She said that updating health, industry, and labor data is essential for better service delivery. She added that we should know in which sector our growth  occurred and where the need for growth exists.

She directed to prepare data of all industrial units to formulate a practical strategy to control smog.

Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that mapping of industry, transport, and population is essential to combat environmental pollution. She said that the project of implementing garbage-to-energy projects should be extended to other cities.

She directed that socio-economic data should be prepared by mapping eligible individuals residing in various regions. She said for continuous updating of physical and social infrastructure surveys are crucial for planning, implementation, and monitoring in Punjab. She said that we should know how many Punjabis are in a population of 120 million in Punjab and how many people are coming from outside.

She added that data of electric poles, bus stops, signboards, streetlights, and traffic signals can be collected through an app installed on vehicles.

On this occasion, the Provincial Advisor Pervez Rashid said that Punjab can become a hub of growth if industry data is organized.

The meeting briefed that out of 25,000 mosajaat in urban units Punjab, 80% have been digitized under the Mosajaat Dashboard.

The meeting briefed that data of 66,313 units have been obtained by mapping the manufacturing industry.

The meeting apprised that residential and commercial property can be determined through artificial intelligence.

Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Provincial Advisor Pervez Rashid, Member Provincial Assembly Saniya Ashiq, Chairman Planning and Development Board, Secretary Treasury, CEO Urban Unit, Khurram Afzal Malik, Dr. Basit, Dr. Aruj, and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
