Int’l Human Rights Day observed by HR Dept

The Department of Human Rights& Minority Affairs in collaboration with Unique Group of Colleges and Zameen.com organized an event to mark International Human Rights Day at 90 Quaid-e-Azam Shahrah. MPA Mahinder Pall Singh, Yudster Chauhan, Habquq Gill, Samuel Gulill, Political Assistant to CM Punjab Urooj Raza, Senior Director Zamin.com Chaudhry Laeeq Iftikhar, leaders of various welfare organizations and people of other religions including the Christian community participated in the ceremony. Director Human Rights Muhammad Yusuf officially started the event by welcoming all the guests, while Secretary Human Rights Masood Mukhtar explained about the performance of the department and demanded to build a human rights complex and increase the minority budget. Masood Mukhtar emphasized that human rights are the first priority of any society and it is the responsibility of every citizen to know their basic rights. Mahinder Pall singh said in his address that the Punjab government is serious about protecting the rights of religious minorities across the province, which will not only enable them to get social and economic rights, but they will also play a full role in politics by getting political rights. Chairman Unique Group of Institutions Prof. Abdul Manan Khurram said in his speech that we have to play our role for the positive training of the young generation by effective guidance, so that they will get awareness of their rights. Special Assistant to Chief Minister Punjab Urooj Raza and other members of the Provincial Assembly also addressed the ceremony. Pastor Majeed Abel said that the current government believes in the promotion of inter-faith harmony and that is the reason why the followers of all religions in the country are living according to their religious and social traditions. A special prayer was made for the integrity and independence of the beloved country Pakistan while shields were also presented in recognition of services of social and political persons.
