Karachi: The government has abolished the regulatory duty on mobile phones and vehicles.
After the end of the regulatory duty, the companies making the mobile phones have made the smart phones cheaper by 5 to 15 thousand rupees, while the companies making the mobile phones at the local level have also issued the new price notification.
With the end of regulatory duty, small cars are likely to be cheaper by Rs 8 lakh, luxury cars by Rs 4 lakh, while 660 cc imported cars are likely to be cheaper by Rs 7 to 8 lakh.
Last year, the government had imposed additional regulatory duty till March 31, 2023, after the expiry of which no extension notification was issued.
Non-issuance of SR has resulted in additional notification. According to President Electronic Dealers Association Rizwan Irfan, mobile phones will be 25% cheaper after regulatory duty is over.
