Body of child, fell in open “Nala” of Gulshan could not recovered yet

KARACHI: The body of a 6-year-old boy who fell into an open manhole in Gulshan Iqbal and went missing could not be recovered even after 24 hours. On Sunday morning, all the rescue teams reached the spot, but due to the lack of modern equipment and heavy machinery, the sewage drain was not found. The rescue operation to find the child has been stalled due to the excavation work not being completed.

The body of Abhiyan Atif, a 6-year-old boy who went missing after falling into an open manhole in Gulshan Iqbal Block 13 D3 on Saturday, could not be recovered even after 24 hours. Even on Sunday morning, Pak Navy, Rescue Double One Double Two and Edhi Foundation diving teams reached the spot and found the child. A rescue operation was started for search but the rescue operation which was going on for some time was stopped.

According to the rescue team, the sewerage line was excavated with the help of an excavator late at night, but the body of the child could not be found.

Sewerage line should be dug completely to ensure that the body of the child is found. Heavy machinery has been waiting since morning but till now heavy machinery has not arrived to break the sewer line.

A large number of family members and relatives of the child and the residents of the area are also present on the spot due to the delay in the rescue operation.

The child’s father says that 6-year-old Abhiyan was the second among three brothers and a student of the first class, a result came on Saturday and Abhiyan scored 94% marks and Abhiyan asked him to bring pizza in the night. It was said that the machinery will not arrive until they protest and block the road. The equipment that should be available to search for the son is not available. What can we do without equipment and machinery? The child’s uncle said that Abhiyan fell into the open manhole at 4 pm on Saturday. Rescue teams reached the spot after an hour and a half and an excavator was brought in at 9:30 pm to excavate a small sewage drain.

They said that should we protest and block the road then we will be heard, if this is the principle to get our rights then let us know, we have called every concerned department and every government officer, but no one is aware of this accident. Not ready to go, calling government officials since 10 pm. If you can’t come, don’t come. Just give us a map of the sewer lines and we’ll find the baby ourselves.

He said that for the past 9 months, they have been telling the institutions to solve this problem, they were waiting for an accident, now the accident has happened, tell us, should we catch the thugs ourselves? There should be such an organization where the citizens can contact for their help so that the citizens are forced to stumble like us.
