Provincial Minister Livestock Ibrahim Hassan Murad chairs an important meeting at livestock department on Tuesday. In the meeting Livestock productivity plan and emergency at Bhawalpur and DG Khan Divisions reviewed in details.

Secretary Livestock briefed to the minister that there is an option of project provision of high potential/ yielding rams/bucks in tribal areas of DG Khan while the livestock department will present 4 to 5 different projects for Bahawalpur and DG Khan Divisions want to increase the meat demand of GCC countries more than 5 times by effective policy and projects. Cooperatives department should be involved as they have 28,000 farmers societies registered with them.They also have mechanism for disbursement of financial assistance. Secretary Livestock of South briefed to the minister that there is an option of Range land development Project in tribal areas of DG Khan.

There is also an option of project safe the femalesheep/goat in tribal areas of DG Khan. He suggested that there should be FMD DFC Zones across the Punjab such as RJ Group China in Sheikhpura.The commissioner DG Khan briefed about to the availabilityof 17,000 acrs land near DG Khan Airport,presently managed by Forest Department maybe shifted to Livestock Department. It was decided in the meeting that for this purpose, the Commissioner will give a detailed presentation.

Farmers Association DG Khan recommended that Provision of better semen should be free of cost,Provisions of Sheds for animals, increase the market value oftheir meat and milk, create linkage directly with highprice/ value slaughter house, Veterinary services in hard and far flung areas and water availability in the form of Ponds and Dams. They also requested to resolve feed availability issue in Barani areas. The minister Livestock assured fully cooperation from Livestock Department and said there should be animal’s traceability and should be a concrete Drug residual monitoring plan.

He said unfortunately there is no cold chain for storing of meat at airports in south Punjab while there is need to increase flight schedule to GCC countries in south Punjab. In the meeting it was also decided that the VC, CUVAS will give 4 to 5 points agenda regarding Brahman Semen in Non-descript Cattles in Bahawalpur.
