WOMENS BUSINESS LEADER URGES DONALD TRUMP TO EXTEND W-GDP INITIATIVE FOR NEXT FIVE YEARS

The Women’s Global Development and Prosperity (W-GDP) Initiative, launched by Mr. Donald Trump during his last tenure, should be continued for next five years.

It was urged by Ms. Robina Amjad, renowned leader of the business women and founder President of the Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FWCCI), while extending a congratulation message to Mr. Donad Trump on his election as President USA.

She told that W-GDP initiative was launched by the President Donald Trump after winning the first election as President USA to advance global women’s economic empowerment focused on three pillars: women prospering in the workforce, women succeeding as entrepreneurs, and women enabled in the economy.

She further told that W-GDP had reached about 50 million women in the developing world by 2025 through U.S. Government activities, public-private partnerships, and a new, innovative Fund, housed and managed by USAID. In Pakistan, thousands of the women in KP, Baluchistan, Sindh and Punjab were facilitated through this program, which is to be ended this year.

She suggested to extend this program also for the next five years.

Ms. Rubina informed that the White House-led W-GDP Working Group is comprised of ten U.S., Government agencies including USAID working to achieve the Initiative’s goals and objectives.Ms. Rubina also urged upon the USAID to formulate a women entrepreneurs group comprising representatives of the local women chambers of commerce and industry for the best possible utilization of the W- GDP initiative.
