What Allama Qazi Abdul Aziz Chishti say on atrocities in Palestine?

Press Release-17th October 2023
Brother & Sisters..
I write today, not as an Islamic scholar, not as a community leader, but as a member of the community of Luton.
A member of the community, deeply saddened and hurt by the current situation unfolding in Palestine. The humanitarian crisis and the loss of innocent civilian lives, especially those of children, have left me with a heavy heart. We simply cannot ignore the magnitude of suffering and hardship endured by our fellow human beings.
What troubles me even more is the response from our government, both at the central and local levels. It pains me to witness the silence and inaction, as innocent lives are being taken away. We cannot allow this to continue and stay silent as human beings.
It is heart-breaking to see our government’s lack of engagement and effort in securing a humanitarian corridor to aid the victims of this devastating bombardment.
As a scholar, I firmly believe that it is our duty to speak up against injustice, regardless of the political landscape. It is clear to me that instead of ensuring the basic needs of innocent civilians are met, our government appears to support actions taken against them. This complicity is deeply troubling, for it implicates us in the genocide being carried out in Palestine.
I have always advocated for unity within our community, working together for a just and compassionate society. However, I feel deeply let down by our local councillors and Members of Parliament. I understand the pressure they may face, towing the line set by their party leaders. But they also have a responsibility to speak out when a humanitarian crisis of this magnitude is unfolding before our eyes.
I pray that soon enough, someone within our government will have the decency to acknowledge this crisis and speak up with conviction. We cannot remain silent while innocent lives are lost, families torn apart, and children robbed of their futures. The time for action is now, and it is our collective responsibility to demand justice, accountability, and an end to this tragic situation.
In the face of such adversity, let us stand together as a community, irrespective of our faiths and backgrounds. Let us raise our voices and advocate for the rights of those who are voiceless, for the justice that has been denied, and for the humanitarian aid that is urgently needed.
I call upon our government, our local councillors, and our Members of Parliament to find their courage, to find their voice, and to speak out against this injustice. Remember, it is in times like these when our bonds are tested, and in our unity, we find strength and hope for a better future.
May we all answer the call for justice, compassion, and humanity. Let us pray and work tirelessly towards a world where no innocent child, no grieving family, and no suffering soul is left unheard or forgotten.
Thank you, and may peace be upon you all.
