WCLA launches series of activities in November to pay Tribute to Allama Muhammad Iqbal

The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA), in collaboration with students of GC University, is hosting a month-long tribute to Pakistan’s national poet, Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal, famously known as the Poet of the East.

This unique series of events, titled “A Tribute to the Poet of East,” will take place at the iconic Iqbal’s Tomb, near the historic Badshahi Mosque. The tribute will feature live poetry recitations and soulful renditions of Iqbal’s Kalam (poetic works), offering audiences a chance to connect with his timeless messages of self-awareness, unity, and spiritual enlightenment.

Starting on November 2, 2024, the events will be held every Saturday and Sunday throughout November, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, with free entry for all attendees.

This initiative marks the first time a tribute of this scale is being organized at Iqbal’s Tomb, and the collaboration with student groups adds a meaningful dimension to the events, ensuring that younger generations remain connected to Iqbal’s legacy.

Kamran Lashari, Director General of the Walled City of Lahore Authority, expressed his vision for the event, saying, “Allama Iqbal’s poetry transcends generations and inspires us to strive for a better and united society. This tribute is not only a celebration of Iqbal’s contributions to literature and philosophy, but it also serves as a bridge connecting our youth with his vision for a progressive and self-reliant nation. ‘’

The Walled City of Lahore Authority invites all residents and visitors to join this month-long celebration of Iqbal’s life and work, paying homage to a poet whose influence and inspiration continue to resonate across generations.
