Man Utd takeover: Sheikh Jassim truth revealed as Carrington picture sparks fan ‘frenzy’

Manchester United fans were apparently sent into a ‘frenzy’ on Friday by a picture of a crane, putting two and two together to make 427.

Pictures surfaced on social media on Friday showing works at Carrington, with the training complex getting some improvements at the end of the season.

That led a few United supporters to come to the conclusion that Sheikh Jassim was about to be announced as the new owner.

They also weren’t “sent into a frenzy” as Express claim after the publication did some digging to find out what we already knew – a crane at Carrington doesn’t equal a Qatari takeover.

‘Express Sport understands construction work on Manchester United’s Carrington training complex was pre-planned and nothing to do with a potential takeover.’

‘There’s still no guarantee the Qatari billionaire will win the race for the Red Devils’ the report adds. What, despite the location of a bit of machinery?

INEOS owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is vying with Sheikh Jassim for control of United, and we continue to wait for news of the Glazer family’s preferred bidder.

An announcement was due to be made on Friday, though we’re not sure anyone truly believed that, with the Glazers apparently the people least bothered by the process that could see them make £5.5bn.

In any case, Carrington was in need of development with the Glazers letting it go to sh*t, as pointed out by Cristiano Ronaldo in November.

Ronaldo said: “Nothing has changed, the pool, the jacuzzi… even the gym.

“Technologically, in the kitchen, even the ‘chefs’, who are people I really like and appreciate. They’ve stopped in time and that surprises me.

“I was surprised because I expected to see different things, as I said, in terms of infrastructure, technology… but unfortunately I still see things that I already saw when I was 23 or 24 years old.”
