A seminar was held at Punjab University in connection with Global Hand Washing Day, organized in collaboration with the welfare organization Aghaahi, W.H.H, and the Social Work Department of Punjab University.
The seminar featured the participation of the Chief Guest, Provincial Minister for Minority Affairs, Ramesh Singh Arora, along with Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, Professor Dr. Muhammad Ali, CEO of Aghaahi, Mubarak Ali, Chairperson of the Social Work Department, Dr. Azma, and analysts Salman Abid, Syed Sajjad, Dr. Fatima, and Dr. Sonia, alongside numerous faculty members and students from the Social Work Department.
The seminar discussed in detail issues such as climate change, food security, tree planting, and discouraging plastic use. Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora stated that the Punjab government is actively working towards environmental improvement, asserting that “improving the environment is the best service to humanity.” He also confirmed the approval of Punjab’s first smog action plan and outlined the government’s comprehensive policy to combat environmental changes.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging the younger generation towards tree plantation and highlighted the need to ensure water conservation, noting that “water levels are rapidly declining.” Furthermore, he urged all stakeholders to work together to improve their surrounding environment.
During the seminar, the Vice Chancellor of Punjab University, analysts Salman Abid, Dr. Azma, and Mubarak also shared their insights on environmental changes, stressing the need for civil society to collaborate with the Punjab government for further action. At the conclusion of the seminar, commemorative shields were presented to Provincial Minister Ramesh Singh Arora and other dignitaries.
