Punjab Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Imran Nazir
has said that public health projects initiated by Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, are progressing rapidly towards completion.
He stated this while chairing a meeting on health initiatives in Lahore today.
The meeting included a detailed review of the performance of underperforming district CEOs of health, medical superintendents (MS) and reviewed data analysis.
Khawaja Imran Nazir said that child emergency facilities would soon be introduced in district hospitals which would reduce child mortality rates by up to 50%.
He informed that the revamping of 2,500 basic health units and over 300 rural health centers is underway at a rapid pace.
He said that modern furniture and other bio and non-bio-medical equipment are being procured during the revamping of all basic and rural health centers.
He said that as soon as the revamping of health centers is complete, this equipment will be provided, and the centers will be made operational immediately.
He emphasized that the use of high-quality construction materials and other progress in public health projects is being monitored daily.
He highlighted that under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Free Medicine Home Delivery Program, free medicines have been delivered to the homes of over 10,000 hepatitis and TB patients.
He said that through the “Clinic on Wheels” initiative, 5 million people across 37 districts have benefited from medical facilities.
He said that more than 800,000 people have received free medicines, tests and other treatments through the Field Hospital Project.
He said that as part of the revolutionary step towards a healthier life, under the Health Week initiative by Chief Minister Punjab, blood screening of 550,000 individuals has been completed.
