Monkey pox is suspected in 4 more people coming from abroad

Karachi: On the flight from South Africa to Karachi, 2 people were found to have symptoms of monkeypox, their blood samples were sent for lab tests.

The health department says that 2 people on the flight from South Africa to Karachi were found to have symptoms of monkeypox, after which blood samples were obtained from the female passenger and the accompanying child.

The provincial health department said that the blood samples of the suspected passengers have been sent to Dow University and a private hospital for testing. The passengers have been quarantined pending the lab test report of the suspected passengers.

A 9-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy who came to Karachi from abroad have been declared suspected monkeypox patients.

9-year-old Raheela Al-Muttab, who came to Karachi from Jeddah by Saudi Airlines, was declared a suspected monkeypox patient. A young man named Affan Muhammad, who arrived in Karachi by the same flight, was also declared a suspected patient.

On behalf of the officials of the Sindh Health Department, the two suspected passengers infected with monkeypox have been transferred from Jinnah International Airport Karachi to the isolation center. The person was shifted to the isolation ward and further tests were conducted.

The health department says that the victim is a driver in Jeddah, who arrived at Karachi Airport by air via Muscat.

According to the report, the victim’s PCR test at Dow University of Health Sciences was positive, after which he was confirmed to have monkeypox.
