Inflation rate in April highest in 58 years

Islamabad: The rate of inflation in the country during the last month (April) was 36.4 percent, which is the highest rate of inflation since 1964.

According to the data released by the Federal Bureau of Statistics, inflation recorded an increase of 2.41 percent in April, which reached the highest level of monthly inflation of 36.42 percent. This is the highest rate of inflation since 1964.

According to the report, the average inflation rate from July to April was recorded at 28.23%, in one year the price of cigarettes increased by 159.89%, tea by 108.76% and flour by 106.07%. While rice became more expensive by 87% and mung dal by 57%.

According to the report, the price of dal mash increased by more than 56% and onion by 52% on annual basis. According to the statistics of the Bureau of Statistics, besan increased by 51.17% and chicken by 43% in one year.
