The provincial minister Mines and Minerals Ibrahim Hassan Murad chaired an important meeting of PMDC at his camp office on Wednesday.
The Secretary Mines & Minerals Department, Managing Director,Pakistan Mineral Development Corporation (PMDC) and other related persons were present on the occasion. In the meeting issues discussed regarding future Development Program,Hurdles being Faced during execution of Future Plans and to attract Foreign Investors in Country, Working procedure of PMDC to do exploration and mining operations, Comparison of Further Development Program of PMDC, Detailed Installation Plan of new Rock Salt processing units of PMDC, Details of Foreign Investors interested in rock salt mining etc. Representative of PMDC briefed about the achievements of PMDC and said that PMD has conducted the following mineral exploration study in Pakistan: Duddar Lead-Zinc Pre-Feasibility Study Lasbela, Balochistan, the Lasbela-Khuzdar Belt Balochistan Exploration, Lead Deposits of Thalechi Gilgit Agency,Copper Exploration of Saindak, Chagi and Waziristan,Preliminary Geological Report on China Clay and Granite Deposits ofNagarparker, Feasibility Study and Technical Proposals of China Clay Swat,Report on the China Clay Occurrences of Henzal Area Gilgit, Report on Fire Clay Deposits for Proposed Steel Mill, Notes and Reports on Datta Fire Clay and Fire Clay Deposits of Musakhel, Geological Report on Fire Clay Deposits of Sindh, Exploration of Aluminous Deposits of Khushab and Choi, Geological Reports and Notes on Limestone Deposits of Pakistan, Reports on Sulphur Deposits of Baluchistan, Magnetic Survey of Malakand Chromite, Geological Reports and Benefication Study of Malakand Chromite, Find Report on Kohistan Chromite, PMDC PC-II Scheme Exploration of Bauxite in Chambawala, Reports on Exploration and Investigation of Bauxite Deposits of Khushab, Exploration Study of Graphite Deposits of Azad Kashmir and Exploration Study of Hunza Ruby and Swat Emerald.
He also briefed about FURTHER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM OF PMDC, said that Production Fully mechanized mining will be adopted in new mines while existing mines will be slowly and gradually shifted to mechanization. Edible salt of 0.4 million tons will be exported as per ISO 22001 standards. MoU signed with Hub Salt Pakistan and Miracle Salt USA for export. Increased Industrial salt (0.2 + 0.1 = 0.3 million tons) will fulfil needs of new Soda Ash plant of SaphireChemical Plant and LCI Soda Ash Plant expansion respectively as per IFC standards. The provincial minister appreciated the working of PMDC and assured fully support in achieving future targets.
