Karachi: In the Sindh High Court, a petition was heard against the awarding of a PhD degree to the leader of the People’s Party, Sharmila Farooqui.
The court again issued notice to Sharmila Farooqui and the Sindh government and adjourned further hearing of the application till November 8.
The lawyer said that the University of Karachi awarded the PhD degree to Sharmila Farooqui on 29 August 2023. The petitioner said that the University of Karachi did not have any records of those who did PhD from 2014 to 2019.
The petitioner said that Sharmila Farooqui was given a PhD degree on political grounds, the court should order the cancellation of Sharmila Farooqui’s PhD degree.
The court again issued a notice to Sharmila Farooqui and the Sindh government and adjourned the further hearing of the application till November 8. Karachi University has no record of PhD holders from 2014 to 2019.
In addition, the police traced three missing persons. The Sindh High Court disposed of three petitions related to the recovery of the missing citizens. On the occasion of the hearing on Friday, the police told the court that the three missing citizens were wanted by the police, Farhan, Shehryar and Javed in various cases. Cases have been registered against the three in the police station site area and Kallari. Shehryar and Javed have been arrested on the identification of the arrested accused. The court expressed satisfaction over the tracing of the three missing citizens. The court was told that the three missing citizens were wanted by the police.
