Punjab Governor Muhammad Balegh ur Rehman has lauded the important role being played by Punjab Public Service Commision for provision of employments to youth on merit transparently.
He was talking during a meeting with Chairman of the Commission, Malik Zafar Iqbal in Lahore today, during which he was briefed about the reforms for improvement of Commission’ working. Both discussed the flood situation in the country as well.
Terming the Commission a well recognized institution, the Governor said that institutions can be strengthened only by ensuring rule of merit and transparency. He urged the Chairman to play his role to further improve the Commission’s performance.
He said that educational institutions need to pay attention towards students’ training and character building besides producing passion for community service in them.He said that people are suffering hard in most parts of the country due to devastation caused by unprecedented flooding. He said that it is our national responsibility to stand firm in this difficult time. He said that students and faculty members of universities have been asked to collect necessary good and relief funds for the flood affectees.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman of Punjab Public Service Commission said that the backlog of work, accumulated during Covid-time, has been cleared and reforms work is in progress to further improve the Commission’ performance.
