General Elections: Election Commission’s decision to invite foreign observers

Islamabad: The Election Commission has decided to invite international observers to observe the upcoming general elections.

In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Chief Election Commission Sikandar Sultan Raja, in which the code of conduct for the observers was reviewed and inviting international observers.

In addition to the members of the Election Commission, the secretary and other senior officers participated in the meeting. It was decided in the meeting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should be immediately instructed to take all necessary steps to invite international observers to observe the transparency of the upcoming general elections.

It was also decided in the meeting that the cases of foreign observers who have requested the Election Commission to observe the election process during the upcoming general elections should be processed immediately.

The Election Commission has also directed to convene an inter-ministerial meeting on October 16, 2023 under the chairmanship of the Secretary Election Commission. Senior officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Interior and other institutions will participate in it and the future course of action will be decided with reference to international observers. . Apart from this, the organization has appointed the Joint Provincial Commissioner Admin as the focal person in the four provinces by the Election Commission at the provincial level. The organization also approved a code of conduct for international observers and authorized its immediate publication, deciding to invite international observers to observe the upcoming general elections. The institution also reviewed the arrangements for the upcoming general elections and expressed satisfaction over it and ordered that all matters related to the institution should be completed as per the schedule.
