Export led economy is only viable solution for development of country: Planning Minister

Federal Minister for Planning and Development, Ahsan Iqbal has said that boosting our exports is the only way to take Pakistan’s economy forward in the right direction.

He was addressing a news conference at Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lahore today.

He said that the government’s priority is to stabilize the country’s economy.

He said that the tax to GDP ratio should be doubled to provide resources for the country’s progress.

He said that Pakistan will have to broaden tax bases and control tax theft. He said that we will have to boost our production capabilities. 

Ahsan Iqbal said that China has offered brotherly assistance to improve Pakistan’s economy as China wants to see our economy stronger.

He said that China imports are worth more than 2250 Billion Dollars in which Pakistan’s share is just worth 3 Billion dollars.

He said that we will have to improve economic relations drastically. 

He said that the Higher Education Commission has been asked to include a mandatory course of Entrepreneurship.

He said that political stability, continuity of economic policy and social solidarity are needed  for a country’s progress.He said that the PML(N) led coalition government has got a limited tenure and is doing its best to improve the country’s economy. He said that the previous PTI government had ruined the economy before leaving, however our government has taken the economy out of a crisis situation which will further improve in the coming six to eight months.

Earlier, President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Nouman Kabir gave suggestions and recommendations to Planning Minister for progress and development of the country.
