Data User and Data Producers Dialogue Workshop held under the auspices PBS

Spokesperson of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and Member (Support Services/Resource Management) Mr. Muhammad Sarwar Gondal says results of the 2023 digital census was unanimously accepted because of evidence base decision.

He stated this while addressing the” Data User and Data Producers Dialogue Workshop” organised by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics in collaboration with the United Nation Population Fund (UNFPA) at a local hotel in Lahore today.

He said this workshop aims to bridge the gap between data users and producers; identify emerging needs and requirements of data users.

He said that the prime purpose is to share the main features of the proposed data dissemination policy with data users. 

Sarwar Gondal said this workshop focusing on emerging users needs and data requirements, challenges in data dissemination and accessibility, strategies for web base data dissemination, partnership with data dissemination and mechanism for systemic feedback on data dissemination in Pakistan.

He said that workshop purpose is to identify data accessibility challenges, strengthen collaboration between data users and data producers and facilitate data accessibility for evidence based Policy making

Muhammad Sarwar Gondal also shed light on Pakistan Bureau of Statistics projects.

He said that PBS also supports the Planning Commission from several years and the government of the Punjab initiated various projects on PBS recommended base line.

UNFPA Representative, Dr. Luay Shabaneh also spoke on the event and stressed on the importance of data for research purposes.
