Taimoor Masood inaugurates Central Asian Volleyball Championship

Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood inaugurated the Central Asian Volleyball Championship at a grand colourful opening ceremony at Nishtar Park Sports Complex Gymnasium Hall on Thursday. Different artists also presented attractive music performances on this occasion.
Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, President Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) Chaudhry M Yaqoob, Director Admin Syed Umair Hassan and a large number volleyball players and sports lovers were also present on this occasion.


The Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF) is organizing the Central Asian Volleyball Championship in collaboration with Sports Board Punjab under the governing banner of Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA).


Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood said that the game of volleyball will get a great boost and promotion as a result of this international event. “Definitely, it will be a great learning opportunity for Pakistan players by playing alongside international volleyball players,” he added.


He said this international event marks the end of a 17-year gap since the last time an international volleyball championship was held in Pakistan. “The teams from five countries – hosts Pakistan, Iran, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan are participating in the grand volleyball tournament scheduled to be staged from November 24 to 29, 2022,” he added.
President PVF, Chaudhary Yaqoob expressed his immense gratitude to Punjab Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Malik Taimoor Masood for providing excellent facilities for the holding of international volley tournament.
