Agriculture is the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, a long term policy will be adopted to resolve issues of farmers regarding electricity supply. These views were expressed by Minister Energy and Food, Husnain Bahadur Dreeshak while presiding over a meeting on providing cheap and reliable electricity to farmers in his camp office on Friday. The provincial minister was informed that a in this regard process of making policy in process and hopefully after mutual understanding will be finalized soon. The minister directed to the concern officers to chalk a comprehensive and long term policy in connection with farmers so that the tubewells can be converted to solar energy. In this regard, the tariff and other expenses should be reviewed in detail, he added. He also directed to contact the Agricultural Development Bank along with the commercial banks for the solar system so that more convenience can be created for the farmers.
