Chief Secretary Punjab Abdullah Sumbal directed the officers to intensify the ongoing crackdown on industrial units and vehicles causing environmental pollution.

He stated this while chairing a meeting at Civil Secretariat in Lahore today to review measures to control smog.

During the meeting, Secretary Industries and Commerce Ahmed Javed Qazi briefed that seven anti smog squad have been established for inspection of Industrial units. It apprised that 428 brick kilns have been sealed, 226 FIRs registered and a total of ten million fine imposed on brick kilns owners.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary Punjab said under section 144 there is ban on burning of crop residues and garbage. He also directed agriculture department to compile a data in this regard.

He said all departments have to work together for elimination of smog.
