Alkhidmat Foundation Launches “Smog Free Lahore” Campaign with Mega Plantation Drive

Alkhidmat Foundation, in collaboration with the Government of Pakistan and the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), has launched a groundbreaking initiative called the “Smog Free Lahore” campaign.

With the aim of combating the critical issue of smog and addressing climate change, this campaign focuses on an extensive tree plantation drive.

A momentous event took place near Lahore Airport to inaugurate the campaign, with the presence of Dr. Mushtaq Mangat, Vice President of Alkhidmat Foundation, Tahir Watto, Director General of PHA and Kashf Shah, Project Director of “Milker Pakistan”. The event witnessed a diverse group of participants, including university heads, students, volunteers, and esteemed members of society, both male and female.

A remarkable total of 15,000 saplings were planted during the ceremony, with orphans dedicating their plantings to their fathers and all participants honoring their loved ones through their contributions.The primary objective of the “Smog Free Lahore” campaign is to promote extensive tree plantation efforts and foster a clean environment to combat the smog crisis.

Dr. Mushtaq Mangat, speaking at the event, expressed Alkhidmat Foundation’s unwavering determination to plant saplings across the country. The campaign sets a target of 1.5 million trees, with Alkhidmat and PHA providing full support. Dr. Mangat emphasized the crucial role of the youth in shaping the nation’s future and called on citizens to set an exemplary model for the world by making Pakistan a green and sustainable country. Additionally, he highlighted Alkhidmat Foundation’s commitment to conducting awareness campaigns and actively participating in future tree planting initiatives, in collaboration with PHA and Pakistan.He underscored the vital connection between trees and reducing smog, stressing the urgency of combating pollution-related diseases through extensive tree plantation. He encouraged citizens to embrace tree planting as an act of charity while contributing to a greener Pakistan.

Tahir Watto, Director General of PHA, applauded Alkhidmat Foundation’s dedication to humanitarian services and emphasized the need for increased tree plantation to tackle climate change challenges.
