A vibrant Christmas cake cutting ceremony was held at the Cathedral Church on Mall Road in Lahore on Thursday, bringing together members of the Christian community and representatives from different walks of life to celebrate the joyous occasion of Christmas.
The ceremony was attended by provincial minister for minorities, Mr. Ramesh Singh Arora, who extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Christian community on the upcoming celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. In his address, Mr. Arora highlighted the universal message of peace, love, and unity that Christmas symbolizes.
He emphasized that all religions, including Christianity, preach the values of peace, friendship, and mutual respect, which are essential in promoting inter-faith harmony, particularly in these challenging times. “The promotion of inter-faith harmony is the need of the hour, and such events contribute immensely to fostering a spirit of unity and understanding among all religious communities,” said Mr. Arora. He further assured that minorities, including Christians, enjoyed equal rights in Pakistan and that the government was committed to ensuring their welfare and protection.
Sonia Asher, Parliamentary Secretary of Human Rights, also addressed the gathering and acknowledged the vital role of the Christian community in the development of Pakistan. “The Christian community is an integral part of our society, contributing significantly to education, healthcare, and various other fields,” she said. Bishop Nadeem Kamran of Lahore, in his remarks, offered prayers for the prosperity and well-being of Pakistan. He also expressed his gratitude to all those present for coming together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas, promoting peace and brotherhood. The event, which also featured a candlelight ceremony, was a reflection of the unity and solidarity shared by the diverse communities in Pakistan. At the end of the event, minister Ramesh Singh cuts a Christmas cake along with Bishop Nadeem Kamran and large number of Christian community.
