New York: Second Secretary of the Pakistan Mission to the United Nations, Rabia Ejaz, said that Pakistan expressed deep concern over the latest report of the Secretary General, which depicted 27,180 confirmed cases of grave violations against children. We are concerned about the continuous violations of human rights against children in occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an area illegally occupied by India.
Addressing the meeting, Rabia Ejaz said that serious violations by Indian security forces against children in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were highlighted in the Secretary General’s annual report on CAAC last year.
According to Rabia Ejaz, the report revealed a horrendous picture of illegal detention of Kashmiri children and the widespread practice of torture and detention without charge or due process, and unfortunately the situation is still the same.
According to Rabia Ejaz, the report includes banning the use of lethal and non-lethal force on children, ending the use of pellet guns and stopping all forms of abuse of children in detention.
Rabia Ejaz said that our question is what mechanism will the SRCG office have in future to monitor and report serious violations of children’s rights and armed conflicts in disputed areas including Jammu and Kashmir, which is illegally occupied by India.
