GoPb declares war against smog, preparations for artificial rain completed

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab government has declared a war against smog and preparations for artificial rain have been completed.

According to details, the Department of Environment, Army Aviation, Civil Aviation, PCSIR, and the Meteorological Department have devised a joint strategy.

In a statement, the Senior Minister Punjab Marriyum Aurangzeb said that artificial rain will be carried out when needed to combat smog.

She said that resources have also been allocated for artificial rain and other measures.She said that, under the directives of the Chief Minister, artificial rain will be conducted with the assistance of the Meteorological Department, and all administrative measures have been finalized in case of severe smog.

She said that international standards will be followed for the process of artificial rain.

Marriyum Aurangzeb informed that one instance of artificial rain will cost between 5 to 7 million rupees.

She emphasized that the crackdown against vehicles, factories and sources emitting toxic smoke will continue.

She said that if preventive measures against toxic smoke improve the environment, there will be no need for artificial rain.

She appealed to the public to cooperate in this campaign to make the fight against smog a success.

She urged citizens to report instances of crop residue burning, smoke from industries or vehicles emitting excess smoke to the number 1373.

She stressed that public cooperation can save lives.
