Deputy Chairman National accountability Bureau Sohail Nasir met with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan in Lahore today.
DG NAB Lahore, Amjad Majeed Olakh was also present during the meeting.
On this occasion, the Deputy Chairman NAB provided a detailed briefing to Punjab Governor Sardar Salim Haider about the Accountability Facilitation Cell (AFC).
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider appreciated the reforms made under the supervision of the NAB Chairman in the institution.He said that to ensure the country’s development, it is essential to eliminate corruption and uphold the rule of law.
Deputy Chairman NAB Sohail Nasir assured that no injustice would be done to anyone, nor anyone’s dignity be compromised.
He announced that the Accountability Facilitation Cell would be established within the Chambers of Commerce as well.
During the meeting, it was informed that the AFC would work under the supervision of a Grade-20 officer, overseen by the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly.It was apprised that any complaint lodged against an honorable member of the Provincial Assembly would be referred to the Accountability Facilitation Cell for scrutiny.It was also informed that the cell would conduct an initial screening of complaints received by NAB against provincial assembly members.
However, NAB would not directly handle complaints against any MPA. After the preliminary investigation, the complaint would be sent back to NAB through the Speaker.
NAB will no longer take action on anonymous or fake complaints filed against assembly members.
The Deputy Chairman NAB announced that action would be taken against individuals who file false or baseless complaints.Governor Punjab praised the positive measures taken by the NAB Chairman and assured full cooperation from the Governor’s office.
