Majiya: A blast tore through hordes of individuals who had raced to gather fuel spilling from a crashed big hauler in northern Nigeria, killing something like 147, authorities told AFP on Wednesday.
The misfortune is the most recent such mishap when petroleum has turned into a valuable ware in the country, which is experiencing its most horrendously terrible financial emergency in an age.
The fuel big hauler went to stay away from one more vehicle and crashed in the town of Majiya, Jigawa state late on Tuesday, police said.
Following the accident, occupants swarmed round the upset big hauler to assemble the spilling fuel.
Understudy Sanusi Lawan told AFP he had heard “yells of euphoria” and raced to join many individuals gathering up the fuel with cans.
The 21-year-old had brought his can back home and his sibling had convinced him not to return for more, when they heard “a colossal blast and cries of agony and dread”. “We raced to the spot and it was a scene of ghastliness,” Lawan said. “Individuals were running while ablaze and yelling for help.”
