Carbon Consultant for the World Bank Mr Motrton met Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb in Lahore today.
During the meeting, bilateral discussions were held on significant measures related to green carbon credit, industrial emission control systems, the development of domestic carbon credits, and the anti-smog program.
Talking to him, Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been taking proactive measures for the past six months to protect the public from the negative effects of smog.
She said that Punjab is currently in a transition phase, and the focus is on solarization, e-buses, bikes and rickshaws to improve the air quality index.
She said that Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif is keen on investing in energy, transport and forest development.
She also informed that discussions are ongoing for the eco-friendly disposal of crop residues with the support of an Australian firm through Bio-refinery 1.
She informed that after the formation of the Punjab Climate Policy and Framework, the Punjab government is now in the implementation phase and is actively working to eliminate pollution.
Marriyum Aurangzeb said that smog is a challenge for the people of Punjab and government is benefiting from the successful experiences of other developed countries.
She expressed her gratitude to the World Bank representative for their assistance and cooperation.
